Wellness Care
Wellness Examinations
Because pets can’t tell us how they’re feeling, preventative care and regular wellness exams play a vital role in keeping them healthy. These visits give us the opportunity to work closely with both you and your pet to create a personalized care plan tailored to your family’s needs.
A typical wellness exam may include weight monitoring, vaccinations, heartworm and fecal testing, as well as recommendations for heartworm and flea prevention and routine deworming. During the visit, the doctor performs a thorough, nose-to-tail examination to ensure all body systems are functioning properly. This includes evaluating the heart, lungs, abdomen, lymph nodes, eyes, ears, oral cavity, skin, anal glands, and hair coat.
We also take time to discuss any questions or concerns you may have, helping ensure your pet maintains the best possible quality of life. Detecting issues early through routine exams often allows for simple, effective treatment—such as medications or dietary adjustments—before they become more serious.
Vaccinations
We offer annual core vaccinations for healthy pets. The young pet especially will need a series of vaccines that help the immune system develop a healthy protection against disease. With puppies, we worry about parvovirus. This virus is highly contagious and spreads through direct contact with an infected dog or by indirect contact with a contaminated object. Each pet may have different risk factors in their environment and vaccines can be adjusted accordingly.
The state of Texas has seen a rise in the number of cases of heartworm positive dogs. Because of this, we offer several different options to prevent this awful disease. Heartworm prevention is recommended for every pet, even if they are mostly kept indoors. You never know if an infected mosquito could make its way into your home. The disease is overwhelming and expensive to treat. We require checking a heartworm test annually to ensure the prevention is doing its job.

Flea Prevention
We offer several different flea preventions. Fleas can cause dermatitis, itchiness, irritation, tapeworms, and may other things that can be easily prevented.
